Saturday night sees Futureshock Wrestling returning to The Union in Manchester once again, as the latest instalment from the company sees ‘Futureshock: Reality Check’ and another great looking card being put together. Three championships will be decided, as well as a number one contenders match for the Tag team titles, with the originally slated main event of Joe Blazr against Scott Oberman being put on ice, with a ‘BIG’ surprise replacement for Oberman in the Main Event.

TONY WRIGHT v DYNAMITE LEE DAWSON (C) – FUTURESHOCK ADRENALINE CHAMPIONSHIP

We’ll see a match that should have taken place at Futureshock Breaks Convention IV a couple of weeks ago, as the FSW Adrenaline Championship will be on the line with title holder ‘Dynamite’ Lee Dawson defending against the ‘Leading Man’ Tony Wright. Wright will be looking to win his first championship at Futureshock, as this will be his first one-on-one match since beating Briac Strong in a bruising encounter at ‘Nowhere to Run’ last November. For Dawson, he has had an interesting 2024 so far, as a battling performance throughout the Lotto Thunder tournament saw him reaching the final before losing out to the eventual winner in Scott Oberman, then had him successfully defending his title in a four-way a few weeks back.

H.C.C v LEAH RAVEN (C) – FUTURESHOCK WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

In the second of the three title matches on the card, H.C.C (Helen Charlotte Campbell) will face ‘The Empress of Anarchy’ in the Futureshock Women’s champion Leah Raven, as this sees the rivalry coming back full circle having saw it ironically all start at The Union last October at Certified Fresh, when HCC turned on Raven during a tag match against Lily Winter and Harley Hudson. While Raven got revenge on her foe at ‘Bump in the Night’ later that month at the Guildhall, she has since gone on to win the title and defend her belt, with Leah looking to build on her  title reign. However, following defeat in October, HCC will be wanting to even the score so to speak, especially more so now with the match being fought over for the Futureshock Women’s championship.

JOEY HAYES v SAM BAILEY

Tucked away on the card, there is the battle of the old guard in a way, as Futureshock stalwarts Joey Hayes and performance centre coach Sam Bailey square off in what should be a highly entertaining contest involving two veterans of the ring. There aren’t any belts on the line in this contest, but more importantly, professional pride and bragging rights are the only motivations needed for this one.

CHRIS RIDGEWAY v LANCE REVERA

In what has become a heated rivalry in a small amount of time involving Chris Ridgeway and Lance Revera, it will see them clash at Reality Check and it won’t be a pretty sight at all. This all started back at Lotto Thunder in January, when both men were on opposite sides during a Six Man Tag match and saw Revera’s side coming out on top as part of Team Blazr, where the ‘Playboy Prince’ seemed to target Chris Ridgeway throughout the match, leaving his opponent a mix of both amusement and bemusement. After Revera took to social media to say how he wasn’t scared or fearful of Ridgeway in anyway, his rival then responded following his win at FSW: Crywolf to record a quick video message, In the video, he mockingly applauded Revera on ‘not being afraid of him’ before accusing him of being insecure, before challenging him to a match saying “you and me one-on-one at the MMU (Union)” adding, “Look me in the eye and tell me you’re not scared of me”.

FORBIDDEN PLANET v MEAT WAGON – No.1 Contenders For Tag Team Championship

It sees the No.1 Contenders for the Tag Team titles to be determined, with Forbidden Planet going up against former champions The Meat Wagon, as both sides will want to reverse their own last encounters with the North West Saviours. It was at the 200th Futureshock show in September when Troy Ryan and Anderson Daniels went up against the North West Saviours in their previous No.1 contenders match, and if it hadn’t been for Gorgon interfering and turning on the Meat Wagon to cost them the match that day, then there is no doubt at all that they would have been facing the champions the next month.  In the case of Dave Birch and Aiton Steen, they were the first challengers for the new tag champions back in December, and saw them coming up short in their title bid. However, Forbidden Planet did get some joy over the holders quite recently, as they and Gangrel beat the team of North West Saviours & Briac Strong.

LUCY SKY v LILY WINTER

One match that has been added to the card this week is that of Lucy Sky v Lily Winter, as both come into this contest on the back of separate Women’s title defeats. Just recently at Futureshock Breaks Convention IV, it saw Winter pushing the current champion Leah Raven to the brink in her match but would ultimately come up second best. Her opponent in Lucy Sky saw the Wigan native impressing massively on FSW debut back in December against the former champion Harley Hudson. Plus, if not for Hudson’s antics of nailing the referee from behind with the title and accusing Sky of the deed to get her disqualified, we could well be looking at Sky as the Women’s champion now.

BIG DAMO v JOE BLAZR (C) – FUTURESHOCK CHAMPIONSHIP

Your Main Event of the evening – was originally pencilled in to be Joe Blazr facing Scott Oberman for the Futureshock Championship. But instead, it sees Blazr having a big title defence and an even bigger problem to deal with, as he faces the ‘Beast of Belfast’ in Big Damo. We haven’t saw Damo in a Futureshock ring since he was last involved in the Invitational Rumble last year, as the Irishman will pose an even bigger challenge for the champion, but despite Blazr beating some top names since winning the belt off Chris Ridgeway last year at the 19th Anniversary Show, this prospect could see his reign coming to an end by Saturday evening.
