futureshock DANGER ZONE – Preview

This coming Sunday sees a bumper doubleheader show for Futureshock Wrestling, as ‘Danger Zone’ takes place at the Stockport Guildhall and has a nine-match card as we stand, with four title matches. It’s a card that has a lot of variety on it, with some storylines being leaned on more, especially through the Adrenaline Championship, while others are just exciting matches overall. Whether it is Championship matches, or tag matches, technical matches, high-flying matches or just bruising encounters Futureshock has it all on this card.

We’ll start with the non-storyline matches on the show, as we’ll see the ‘leading man’ in Tony Wright facing HT Drake in a one-on-one battle, as both men come into the contest on the back of failed title challenges. Drake came up short when he fought for the Futureshock Title against champion Joe Blazr at Certified Fresh, while last month saw Tony Wright unable to get the better of ‘Dynamite’ Lee Dawson for the Adrenaline Championship at REALITY CHECK, so both men will be looking to get back in the win column. We’ll see the newest graduate of the Futureshock Performance Centre in Nadjei, as he steps in the ring against Anthony Getski – who is by no means a slouch around the squared circuit at all, so fair to say the Rookie will have a his hands full in his first official match for the company.

The Tag Team Champions will be in the building as well for Danger Zone, as the North West Saviours in Max Brooker and Rizman Khan will defend their tag titles against the team of the ‘Golden God’ Oscar Byron, and his partner in ‘the Asset’ Steven Cross, as the duo answered Brooker’s open challenge for any tag team to come forward and attempt to try and knock off the current holders. As mentioned, we’ll hear from the 2024 Lotto Thunder winner in Scott Oberman and his protégé Ethan Kelly, as Oberman opted out of his title match against Joe Blazr for the Futureshock championship last month at “Reality Check”, so we may get some answers as to why the Lotto Thunder winner chose not to go for gold.

We’ll see a rivalry that has been simmering since December as ‘the Wildfire’ Nate Reese takes on Doctor Proctor, to which the young Doc will no doubt have written his opponent ‘to take an ass-kicking’ this Sunday. This rivalry started back during the Futureshock tournament, where Reese interfered in the 4-way final, and saw ‘the Wildfire’ not taking his earlier defeat too well and cost the ‘rookie’ in Dr Proctor the tournament and saw him being helped to the back from the attack. ‘The Hunter’ Briac Strong faces Joey Hayes, as following Hayes’ battle with Sam Bailey last month at the Union, Strong came through the crowd after the match and saw ‘the hunter’ spotting some new prey in the Futureshock legend. One thing for sure, we won’t be seeing Joey Hayes ‘the Entertainer’ come Sunday. We’ll be seeing the deadly serious and focused side of him instead, as ‘the hunter’ could find himself being the ‘hunted’ at Danger zone.

The tag team division has really started to heat up a lot in recent months within the company, as the contest between the Meat Wagon and Forbidden Planet at “Reality Check” was an early candidate for match of the year. However, interference from ‘The Horde’ in Gorgon and Solomon saw them costing both teams involved a chance of being number 1 contenders, and has them facing one of those teams they screwed over last month in their 1st appearance as a team this Sunday when they face Forbidden Planet. No doubt both Aiton Steen and Dave Birch will want to get some revenge for their opponents who cost them a shot at the tag titles.

Moving to the Women’s division, and the Futureshock Women’s champion Leah Raven will be looking to make it four successful title defences when she goes one on one with the impressive Lucy Sky at the Stockport Guildhall. Leah’s run as champion so far has seen her face three very different types of opponents to date, such as – the quickness of Harley Hudson, the methodical Lily Winter, and the brutality of Helen Charlotte Campbell – but Raven has always prevailed. However, this will be an even bigger test for the “Empress of Anarchy” to try and overcome in this contest, as the Wigan powerhouse has come close to winning the title in Stockport before. As were it not for the antics of Harley Hudson a few months ago, then we could be sitting here with Sky as the Futureshock champion instead.

In the case of the Adrenaline Championship, it sees an intriguing triangle story playing out around Chris Ridgeway, ‘Dynamite’ Lee Dawson and ‘the Playboy Prince’ Lance Revera – as the latter two will meet earlier in the day, with the winner of that match going up against Chris Ridgeway later in the second part of the show. Dawson and Revera are two up and coming youngsters within the company and share a common enemy in Ridgeway, who has been targeting both men in recent months. There is a case to be made that Ridgeway has been too cocky in his recent encounters against the two in question, having seen both men recording surprise wins over Ridgeway at the Union.

However, one can say that the loser of the Dawson/Revera match is the real winner, as they don’t have to go on and face Ridgeway in their second match for the title. Should we see a title change in the evening, it will mean that Futureshock has its first Grand Slam winner with Ridgeway, having seen win both the tag and FSW Championship in the past, so the Adrenaline championship would complete the set for him. One thing for sure about Danger Zone, is that it should be another great show as they have been getting better and better with each month.
