BRIDGE PRO WRESTLING: DEAD COOL ANNIVERSARY — REVIEW

BRIDGE PRO WRESTLING: DEAD COOL ANNIVERSARY

This past Friday night, the Stourbridge-based company Bridge Pro Wrestling celebrated its first anniversary at the Amblecote Royal Legion Club with ‘DEAD COOL Anniversary, so here is a review of what happened.

Charles Crowley defeated Chantal Jordan

The opening contest was scheduled to be that of the ‘Spectacular Tw*t’ Charles Crowley and Chantal Jordan, as these two have been at each other dating back to April at Brand New Level, where it saw Crowley join forces with Cheeky Little Buggers partner Alexxis Falcon to defeat Jordan. It saw Charles Crowley not happy with the locals once in the ring and told the Bridge Pro crowd he would come out for a second time, so he went back and redid his entrance to the ring, only to have Chantal Jordan come flying through the ropes to take Crowley out.

The two traded blows on the outside, with Crowley looking to whip his opponent into seats vacated by fans, only for Jordan to send him into those empty seats instead. Crowley then rolled Jordan back into the ring and went for the pin, only for referee Adam Evans to inform him that the contest hadn’t started yet due to the bell not being rung. Just as the referee was about to ask for the bell to be rung, Jordan attacked Crowley from behind to leave her opponent down on the mat. Chantal instructed the ref to ring the bell to start the match, where Crowley played possum to quickly roll up Jordan as the bell sounded to score the pinfall victory, with the ‘Spectacular one’ recording the quickest victory in Bridge Pro history.

‘The future’ Zac Walker defeated Samuel Hughes w/ Alexxis Falcon

We finally saw two young rising stars facing off in a Bridge Pro ring after months of butting heads in recent multi-man or tag team matches, as there seemed to have been a mini rivalry ignited between Walker and Hughes. Hughes was joined at ringside by Alexxis Falcon, who heads the ‘Queens Catch’ and wants to see the group terrify Bridge Pro Wrestling for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately for her and her band of merry men, ‘THE FUTURE’ is already here in Zac Walker, where the youngster took it to the ‘Red Headed Razcal’ in a tough battle that saw the local hero having the better of things. That all changed when the wildcard in the match saw Falcon getting involved behind the referee’s back and helping her man Hughes gain an unfair advantage. Walker began to slowly force his back into the contest and have him soon turning the tables to nail some explosive offence and finish it off with a running knee to the back of the head to score the win, much to the shock and disgust of Alexxis Falcon on the outside who was stunned speechless.

Falcon then demanded the microphone and began to rip into Samuel Hughes, where his apologies fell on deaf ears, only to have the head of the ‘Queen’s Catch’ handing him a ‘Final chance’ to prove his worth in the group by being added to the 10-person tag match later on.

Open Challenge: Dead Sea Souls (Steve Valentino & CJ Rawlings) defeated The EXILE PACT (Alex Connors & Luke Douglas)

Following the run that the newly named ‘Exile Pact’ has gone on in Alex Connors and Luke Douglas, where wins over Nightshade & Safire Reed, Levi Muir & Liam Jones, it saw the duo then ask for any tag team in the back to face them and answer their challenge. It saw the challenge being answered by the first team that the Exile Pact beat at Brand New Level in Steve Valentino and Luke Douglas – the Dead Sea Souls.
This match followed how their first meeting went, as it swayed back and forth as both teams enjoyed spells early on. But when CJ Rawlings became the isolated party in the contest, it saw Connors and Douglas working on his arm/shoulder and cutting him off from his tag partner Steve Valentino, who could only watch on helplessly to do anything. Rawlings managed to tag in Valentino, where the tide began to turn in their favour and looked to be on their way to victory.

But referee Evans got squashed in the corner accidentally, where Connors & Douglas tried to use underhanded tactics with no official around, as a spanner got brought into the contest and was used on Rawling but only drew a two-count, much to the shock of their opponents. It saw Connors trying to repeat history from earlier in the year when he went for a low blow again on Valentino, only to have the ‘Peoples Captain’ catch the foot and hit Connors between the ‘wickets’, where he and Douglas would go on to hit a double-team and end the winning streak of their opponents.

10-person Elimination Tag: QUEENS CATCH (Jay Cee, Samuel Hughes, Will Stevens, Violet Nyte, Tyler Davies) defeated Team TJ SKY & Lila Kyle (Lila Kyle, TJ Sky, Nate Reilly, Hollie Barlow, Edgar Adams)

This was a chaotic matchup from the first bell to the end, with both sides keeping their cards close to their chest over who their mystery partners would be. The Queens Catch team featured – Samuel Hughes, who was announced earlier in the night by Alexxis Falcon as one of the two remaining names to be announced, where the final spot went to Violet Nyte, someone who was no stranger to the team captains on the other side, having tagged with TJ Sky against Lila Kyle back in April. For Team Sky & Kyle they went into the contest minus both Memes and Simon Miller, as their replacements were the exciting duo of the ‘Speed Demon’ Edgar Adams and ‘the Skywalker’ Nate Reilly, with the ‘Hot Topic’ Hollie Barlow rounding off the team.

It saw the ‘Queen’s Catch’ starting brightly until Tyler Davies became the first person to be eliminated in the contest by Edgar Adams, where Davies refused to go quietly sneaking up behind Adams and low-blowing behind the referee’s back to see the sides both a member. Violet Nyte and Hollie Barlow tussled, with Hollie looking like she was getting the better of her opponent, but saw Barlow would then fall next. We saw the co-captains in TJ Sky and Lila Kyle nailing Nyte in the corner with a knee and kick combo to end her night. Two quick eliminations finished with Reilly and Stevens departing for both teams, which left Hughes and Jay Cee against Sky/Kyle. Both TJ and Lila went to the well too often, adopting the duo knee and kick in the corner, as Sky took the brunt off Kyle’s knee to be pinned and see her as the final member of her team.

Before the end, it saw Kyle taking an awkward landing and looked to have injured her ankle. The ‘Queen’s Catch’ took victory in the match, where Hughes and Jay Cee were the last two surviving members of their side to see Alexxis Falcon’s faction showing early signs of their potential dominance in Bridge Pro Wrestling.

Triple Threat Match: Natalie Sykes defeated Lizzy Evo & Safire Reed

We saw three women killing it right now in Lizzy Evo and Safire Reed around the British scene, while one person who is on the rise this year has been Natalie Sykes, and she felt very much like the odd woman out in the match. Before the contest, it saw both Evo and Reed throwing Sykes phone over her head back and forth, with her finally landing a kick to end the torture. Sykes seemed to be the unfortunate person taking the brunt of the abuse in the ring, with the ‘21st-century liability’ using kicks to her advantage and fighting back in the match, but soon saw her out of the picture and saw Reed against Evo.

These two went back and forth in the contest, where Sykes would then return to the match, with Reed looking to land a big boot on her but accidentally saw her big boot hitting Lizzy Evo and have Natalie Syke rolling her up to steal victory with the Bridge Pro crowd none too happy.

Kemper defeated James Ellis

The penultimate match of the night saw the proud Welshman James Ellis come out and declare his love for Wales and say how happy he was to be there in “Stockport!” which drew the ire of the crowd who chanted “Kemper’s Gonna kill you!” towards Ellis. The huge Kemper came to the ring with his usual look of a ‘killer in the ring’ as he had the early advantage in the match, with Ellis taking over on the monster Kemper.

Ellis was doing a fine job of neutralising his opponent and controlling the bout in his favour, with Kemper struggling to generate much offence while James was in charge. However, the crowd rallied behind the monster and saw the punches and hits losing their sting while Kemper regained some control. After attempting a chokeslam twice on Ellis, it saw the Welshman twice escaping his clutches and looking to go up top to try and land the final blow, only for his opponent to catch him one-handed round the throat and finally land a massive chokeslam for the victory.

Millie McKenzie defeated Brandon Jordan

The show’s main event of the evening pitted Millie McKenzie against Brandon Jordan – where Jordan looked to keep his undefeated streak going, having scored a win over his sister Chantal in the first-ever Bridge Pro show and then followed it up with a gutsy win over Steve Valentino last time out. However, Millie was a step up in class for Jordan, having seen her career take her worldwide, so this would be the toughest test for Brandon at Bridge Pro.

Millie McKenzie used her wrestling skills to good effect, as she kept her opponent grounded on the mat early on, with Brandon struggling to make any inroads. Jordan would look to use his quickness and soon saw him negating his rival in the match. The two of them put on a heck of a bout, as neither gave an inch to the other and saw near falls and the match swing one way and the other, while the crowd was split too. In the end, it was a suplex from the top that led to the downfall of Brandon Jordan, as Millie McKenzie picked up the victory in a hard-fought contest.

Another fun offering from the Stourbridge promotion, and is on the rise and only getting better with each show. But moving forward what is next for a few people on the roster? Like the Alexxis Falcon’s Queen’s Catch faction, will they continue to press ahead and aim to take over Bridge Pro down the line? What will Chantal Jordan’s next move be against Charles Crowley who has now pinned her three times technically. After Dead Sea Souls made it 1-1 against the Exile Pact, will we see a rubber match in future? All in all, it has been an exciting 2024 for the company which has attracted some of the top stars from the British Wrestling scene, and it looks to be an exciting 2025!
