FSW: BREAKS CONVENTION IV – Preview

FUTURESHOCK BREAKS CONVENTION IV – AT BOWLERS, BEC ARENA, MANCHESTER

Saturday night sees ‘For the love of Wrestling’ hosting a joint event with Manchester’s own promotion in FutureShock Wrestling, as the city’s biggest company takes over the Bowlers-BEC Arena for ‘FutureShock Breaks Convention IV’. The event sees a six-match card, with the additional ‘Invitational Rumble Match’ being thrown in for good measure, as – Braun Strowman, Big Damo and Pete Dunne are all previous winners of this event. The show will also help to showcase a mix of established and rising talent within the Manchester promotion, as Future Shock is gearing up towards their 20th Anniversary in September, and sees a couple of special guests from the weekend being included on the show.

TONY WRIGHT vs Dynamite LEE DAWSON (C) – ADRENALINE CHAMPIONSHIP

In one of the three championship matches on the card, the ‘Leading Man’ Tony Wright makes his return to a Futureshock ring, having been out injured with a Broken Ankle that he sustained at the back end of last year. For Wright, having picked up his first win against Briac Strong at ‘Nowhere to Run’, it sees this being a glorious opportunity for him to win his first belt at FSW, as goes for ‘FSW Adrenaline Championship’. However, he will have to overcome the plucky ‘Dynamite’ Lee Dawson, who came up short in the recent Lotto Thunder tournament. Chris Ridgeway practically beat the living hell out of Dawson in the opening round match, but Dynamite scored the surprise win to set up a semi final with Matty Tucker and won, though Scott Oberman delivered a Tombstone Piledriver to his opponent in the final. Despite his gutsy efforts, Dawson would fall to Oberman in the final of the tournament.

C.P. REILLY vs RHINO

C.P. Reilly (Genius…Genius) has seen his stock rise a lot over the last few months, having culminated in the 2023 FutureShock Tournament, after winning the fatal 4-way on December 10th to guarantee himself a title shot whenever he wants. Since then, Reilly has tried to be an opportunist when he can, as after his side lost to Blazr’s team at Lotto Thunder, the Genius beat Doctor Procter and attempted to sneak attack the champion moments after beating Kid Lykos at FutureShock Crywolf in Stockport this past month, but Lykos stopped the smart one by delivering a brainbuster to C.P. That all said, Reilly claimed “There’s not a man in FutureShock Wrestling that can beat me!” So upon hearing that, Chris Brooker informed him that he would be wrestling at ‘FSW: Breaking the Convention IV’, with his opponent being a former ECW World and TV champion; as well as a former US & Tag Team champion in WWE, and to finish, a former Impact Wrestling Heavyweight and Tag Team champion too. That opponent in question of course, is the ‘War Machine’ – Rhino. So good luck C.P., look out for the – GORE!!

SIX MAN TAG: BRIAC STRONG & NORTH WEST SAVIOURS vs FORBIDDEN PLANET & GANGREL

In a special six man tag match, it sees the current Futureshock Tag Team champions in Max Brooker and Rizman Khan – North West Saviours, teaming up with ’the Hunter’ Briac Strong, with the threesome taking on the unlikely trio of Forbidden Planet (Star Killer Dave Birch and Aiton Steen) along with former WWE star Gangrel. It is for sure one of the most bizarre teams put together, as if Forbidden Planet can pick up a win, then you would think that a victory would put them back in contention for a tag title shot against their opponents down the line. But it should be a fun contest.

LILY WINTER vs LEAH RAVEN – WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

In a rematch from last year’s 200th show Anniversary show in September, it sees the Women’s Champion in Leah Raven putting her title on the line against Lily Winter, in which Winter got the win that day and so Raven will be looking to avenge that loss. Leah Raven who won the Women’s Championship back at Lotto Thunder, saw her making a battling defence against the previous champion in Harley Hudson at the start of February, so she will be looking to build on her legacy with the belt. So after their entertaining match last time out, it could be a possible show stealer.

Deadly’ DAMON LEIGH vs JOE BLAZR (C) – FUTURESHOCK CHAMPIONSHIP w/Ken Shamrock – GUEST ENFORCER

Your main event of the evening is for the FutureShock Championship, as Joe Blazr will defend against the man he won it from at FSW: Turn It Up in Deadly’ Damon Leigh. Leigh, who held the FSW title the third longest in history with a reign that stretched 701 days has never been awarded a rematch for the title he long, but come Saturday night that will be put right. Blazr’s championship run has seen him beat the likes of Briac Strong, HT Drake and just this month saw him beating Kid Lykos at FSW:Crywolf in Stockport. Oh, I nearly forgot, there is the now added special guest enforcer at ringside for this contest, as (takes deep breath in)…the former WWF Intercontinental, Tag Team and King Of The Ring winner; the NWA World Heavyweight and Inaugural UFC Superfight champion in the ‘World’s Most Dangerous Man’ – Ken Shamrock.

FutureShock have been putting on some great events of late, and this show is no different, as they gear up to their 20th year.
